Craniosacral Picture

"Nature heals, the doctor nurses" - Paracelsus

Biodynamic craniosacral therapy take a 'whole person' approach to healing. It is a hand-on and involves the therapist 'listening with fingers' to the subtle rhythms and any patterns of inertia and congestion. Using the hands to reflect back to the body the pattern it is holding, the therapist provides an opportunity for the body to let go of its restrictive pattern and return to an easier mode of functioning. The emphasis is to encourage and enhance the body's own self-healing and self-regulating capabilities.

What will happen in a session?

A full case history will be taken before you are asked to lie fully clothed on a couch. Gentle contact will be made, usually at your feet, sacrum and cranium and you may experience warmth, tingling or pulsing sensations. Nearly everyone feels a deep sense of relaxation. Others may experience memories, emotions or physical sensations that can often provide them with specific insight and assist them in making positive life changes. The treatment will last for about 45 - 50 minutes and verbal communication will be maintained if appropriate. After the session it is advisable to rest to allow the body time to integrate the changes.

Changes often take place after each session, and can feel so subtle that you may not notice them immediately. However over time you will feel much better in yourself and notice an increased sense of well-being and will be able to cope much better with challenging situations.

How often should I have treatments?

It is advisable to have a course of at least 6 sessions to allow the body's natural healing powers to build up and to allow changes to take place. Chronic conditions will usually take longer.
